Approachable Sustainability: New Green Business Bureau Podcast and Video Blog Series
This Earth Month we are using our platform to amplify our members’ great work by launching our video blog and podcast series, Approachable Sustainability. This series features interviews by our Sustainability Program Manager, Leah Mowery, with Green Business Bureau members who are leading the way in sustainability. Each episode provides an in-depth look at the strategies, tools, and techniques that these businesses are using to reduce their environmental impact and create a more sustainable future. We discuss key topics and terms within their industry, challenges they’ve faced along the way, and what gives them a competitive advantage. Beyond business operations, we also discuss why their work is meaningful to them and what gives them hope for the future.
Why Approachable Sustainability?
At the Green Business Bureau, we are dedicated to promoting sustainable business practices and we believe that showcasing the incredible work of our members is one of the most effective ways to inspire change. Sustainable business practices are more important now than ever before. Climate change, resource depletion, and other environmental challenges are threatening the health of our planet and our communities. By highlighting the successes of our members, we hope to inspire other businesses to take action and join us in the fight for a more sustainable future.
We firmly believe that sustainability is approachable and achievable for all businesses, regardless of size or industry. Sustainability is approachable because it is not just about making big, dramatic changes. Rather, it is about making small, incremental changes in the way we do things, and continuously improving over time. These small changes can add up to significant improvements in sustainability, and they can be adopted by businesses of any size, in any industry.
Additionally, sustainable practices can often lead to cost savings and increased efficiency, making them not only good for the planet but also good for business. For example, using energy-efficient lighting can significantly reduce energy costs, while implementing a recycling program can save money on waste disposal.
Furthermore, there is a wide range of tools, resources, and support available to businesses that want to become more sustainable. Organizations like the Green Business Bureau offer guidance, training, and certification programs that can help businesses make the transition to more sustainable practices. By sharing the stories of our members, we hope to demonstrate that sustainable practices are not only good for the planet but can also be good for business. Our members have found that implementing sustainability into their business model has led to increased efficiency, cost savings, and improved customer loyalty.
