RIVALITA Wines was founded in 2015 based on a fairly simple concept – acquire the best quality grapes from well-known vineyards and growers in Napa and Sonoma Counties, assemble a fiercely smart and passionate winemaking team, and produce small quantities of ultra-premium, direct-to-consumer wine.

By sourcing fruit and partnering with a custom crush company, RIVALITA Wines is able to produce an exceptional, high quality product while reducing their overall footprint. Founder and Managing Partner, Kent Shanklin, explains, “by working through someone else’s facility, we don’t require a physical building for production and bottling, and by leveraging the industry’s leading wine storage and fulfillment company, we also don’t require our own space for storage.  Additionally, we age our wines in used French oak barrels for more balanced and elegant wines, which also reduces our demand for new oak.  But our passion for sustainability and green certification doesn’t start there – it starts in the vineyard where, to the extent that we can, we focus on acquiring fruit from certified organic and certified green growers. While it’s difficult to acquire 100% through certified properties, the industry is moving more and more towards being better stewards of the land through more environmentally sound and sustainable vineyard practices.”>

To date, RIVALITA Wines has released two Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc’s from 2015 and 2016; two Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir’s from 2014 and 2015, 2014 Zinfandel from Dry Creek in Sonoma; 2015 Sangiovese from Dry Creek Bench in Sonoma; and two 2015 California Sparkling wines from Carneros in a Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs.  Future wines include a Spring release of the 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, and a 2017 Zinfandel from Dry Creek which will be released in late Fall 2019.

RIVALITA Wines has been an active member in GBB since 2017, and they’re looking forward to continuing their focus on green certification and spreading the word in Napa and Sonoma Counties.  For more information about RIVALITA Wines, please visit them at www.rivalitawines.com or on Instagram @rivalitawines to find out more about #revelinginrivalita.
