All Green Business Bureau (GBB) Affiliates are required to complete the GBB Marketing Affiliate Registration and remain in compliance with the terms of GBB’s Affiliate Marketing Affiliate Agreement upon acceptance into the Affiliate program. This page contains many of the key terms and policies you need to know to be a GBB Affiliate, though they do are not intended to replace or override any part of the GBB Affiliate Marketing Affiliate Agreement. If you’re not yet part of the GBB Affiliate Program, you can apply here.

Earning & Commission Policies

Commission Rates:

GBB Affiliate will receive a recurring percentage commission based on customer purchases of GBB Subscription Products. The Commission Rate paid is 25% for new subscriptions and renewing subscriptions.

Commission Example A

If you refer a customer to GBB and they purchase a Yearly Subscription for $875/Year, you will receive a commission of $218.75 for the initial sale, and $218.75 for each subsequent yearly renewal of that Subscription for as long as the subscription remains active and you remain a participant in the GBB Affiliate Program.

Commission Example B

If you refer a customer to GBB and they purchase a Monthly Subscription for $28/Month, you will receive a commission of $7.00 for the initial sale, and $7.00 for each subsequent monthly renewal of that Subscription for as long as the subscription remains active and you remain a participant in the GBB Affiliate Program.

Affiliate Cookies:

GBB Affiliate Cookies have a duration of 120 days from the time of clicking your affiliate link. In simple terms, this means that you will receive a commission for any purchase made within 120 days of a qualifying affiliate link click.

Commission Limitations:

Though GBB strives to ensure that Affiliate Commissions are paid for all properly qualified subscription sales, there are a number of limitations that may result in commissions not being paid. GBB encourages you to read the Affiliate Program Agreement for more thorough information on properly ensuring your leads result in paid commissions, and the limitations may cause a sale to not qualify for an Affiliate Commission. Some key program limitations to understand:

    1. Affiliate receive commission only for purchases made by a new GBB customer who is not in an active sales process with GBB at the time of the affiliate link click.
    2. In order for a subscription purchase to qualify for a commission, the referred customer must be an active customer for 30 days. Commissions will not be paid for any customers that request or receive a refund of paid subscription fees. Any commissions paid for subscription purchases that later receive a refund will be deducted from future commission payments.
    3. Affiliate links rely on cookies to track sales. If the customer has cleared their browser cookies, or doesn’t accept cookies, Ambassador affiliate sales will not be tracked.
    4. Only affiliate links can be used to track sales. Incorrect use of affiliate links will cause inability to track referrals.

Competitive Situations & Click Attribution:

In the event a single customer clicks two different affiliate links from two different GBB Affiliates, the first link to be clicked will receive credit for a subscription purchase made during the referral (cookie) period.

Commission Payment Timing & Frequency:

GBB pays commissions within 45 days of the close of each month for commissions earned. For example, a qualifying affiliate purchase made on June 20 will be paid within 45 days of the end of June (i.e. before August 15).

Payments via PayPal:

GBB Affiliate Program commissions are paid via PayPal using the email address provided by you in the GBB Affiliate Area. Please be sure to add your PayPal email to your profile so GBB can promptly send you your commission payments. If you do not use PayPal, or prefer to be paid commissions using an alternate payment method, please reach out to a member of the GBB Affiliate Enablement Team to discuss alternatives. Please note, however, that alternative payment arrangements may delay the timing of commission payments, and we do advise using PayPal for all Affiliates.

Minimum Commission Payments:

GBB does not typically pay commissions until an Affiliate has earned and/or accrued >$50 in commissions during a period. For example, a new GBB Affiliate earns $30 in commission in its first month, and another $40 in its second month. In this scenario, commissions of $70 would first be paid to the new Affiliate after the close of the second month.

Promoting GBB

GBB Branding & Branded Materials:

The Green Business Bureau name, product and service names, logo and brand are important elements in building GBB’s reputation as a credible and trusted authority in the green business industry. As such, it’s critically important that we protect and manage how our branded materials are used. Please use the following guidelines when working with GBB-branded materials:

Use the language and assets GBB provides to you in the Affiliate tool and as provided to you from the GBB Affiliate enablement and support team.

Do Not:

Use false or misleading statements on the benefits of using GBB. Modify or adjust the GBB logo or GBB wordmark in any sort of marketing material you might create, including the creation of any visual badges or dual-logo lockups.

What to call yourself:

GBB works-with and partners-with entities in multiple ways to promote and sell GBB products and services. The Affiliate Program is just one of those ways. Participation in the GBB Partnership Program requires significant investment of time and resources by approved GBB Partners. As a GBB Affiliate, please follow these guidelines when referring to your relationship with GBB:

Say you’re a “GBB Affiliate” or “GBB Affiliate”.

Do Not:

Refer to yourself as a GBB Partner or say that you’ve “partnered with GBB”. This includes, but is not limited to, referring to yourself as a “GBB Reseller”, “GBB Implementation Partner”, “GBB Value Added Reseller”, or “GBB Partner”. This includes representations made in press releases, references in videos, listings on your website, or in any other marketing material you may be using.

Buying Ads:

GBB encourages you to actively advertise GBB’s products and services as a part of your Affiliate Program participation. That said, you must not purchase ads that direct to your site(s) or through an affiliate link that could be considered as competing with GBB’s own advertising, including, but not limited to, GBB’s branded keywords. If you have any questions about keyword advertising, and if your advertising strategy could be seen as violating the GBB Affiliate Agreement, please reach out to a member of the GBB Affiliate team to review your strategy.

Miscellaneous Policies

Sharing Placements:

When requested, you’ll share the places you’ve used your affiliate link(s). This includes, but is not limited to, links, screenshots, and emails you have sent.

Purchasing GBB for your business:

One of the benefits of the Affiliate Program is we don’t require you to purchase GBB products. Though if you decide to purchase a GBB Membership Subscription, we require that you do not use your own affiliate link. At times, GBB may offer special discount subscriptions for Affiliate Program members. If you have any questions about joining GBB as a Member Business, please contact a member of the GBB Affiliate Team.

GBB Partner Programs:

In addition to the Affiliate Program, GBB offers partnership programs. If you are a GBB partner, or are seeking to become a GBB partner, please note that GBB will only pay a commission to you based on one of these agreements – never both.
